Sure it’s OK to brag a little. After all, I have enjoyed a wonderful career both, as a US Navy sailor and as a government contractor. Below are some of the awards I have received in my career.
I was honored to receive a letter of appreciation from the then commander of United States Southern Command, Admiral James Stavridis for my support in Bogota, Colombia.
April 2006
I was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for my participation in Operation SECURE TOMORROW for the stabilization of Haiti. This award was presented to me by the United States Southern Command Director of Intelligence.
April 2006
April was a strong month as I was awarded an Excellence Award from General Dynamics for Outstanding work on Process & Operational Improvements.
This award was my second Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal presented to me for maintaining constant communications during a Mediterranean deployment on board USS Shreveport (LPD-12) from 1999-2000 managing over 65 secure and non-secure data and voice communication circuits.
February 2000
February was a great Navy year as I was awarded my first Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for serving as the antenna maintenance supervisor from January – December 1999. This award is also special as it mentions my efforts culminating as being selected Sailor of the Year for CY 1999.
To compliment this award, 2000 also brought forth a Letter of Commendation from the Commander Amphibious Group Two, Rear Admiral W. G. Sutton. Again, this was for the ship yard period where I lead a team of sailors and we overhauled and restored over 65 communications antennae.
This award was special to me. I received my Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist pin during the 1999-2000 deployment. It carried a lot of meaning to me because I was an E-3 at the time I was awarded it. It was shocking (at the time) for an E-3 to be so motivated and complete the duties needed for such a warfare pin. I was pinned by the Under Secretary of the Navy at the time.
This is when I became a sailor! Of course I had entered the Navy in July 1997, but I had to go through Radioman (RM) “A” school at the time. At the age of 19 years-old, it was difficult not only with the workload of school, but being away from family as well. However, this certificate started my career and ultimately brought me where I am today.
