Thank you for stopping by my website. If you are here, hopefully you are in the business of hiring people!
After graduating Cocoa High School in 1996, I attended Brevard Community
College for two semesters with a desire to study elementary education. After
those two semesters, I found myself wanting more at which time I joined the US
Navy in July 1997. I attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill as well as
Radioman “A” school in Great Lakes. After graduating “A” school, I was
assigned to the USS Shreveport (LPD-12), an amphibious assault ship out of
Norfolk, VA. I flew to Kuwait to meet my ship and spent my 4 year enlistment on
board the Shreveport finishing up the Mediterranean cruise the year I arrived (1998) as
well as completing another 7 month deployment from 1999-2000.
Upon separating from the Navy in 2001, the 9/11 disaster struck and my hopes
of returning to Florida’s Space Coast were quickly diminished as jobs were in
short supply after the attacks. I found myself though with an offer at
USSOUTHCOM with General Dynamics working customer support on the Help
Desk in 2002. I quickly moved from the Help Desk in 2004 to Systems
Administration (Windows) and became a Terminal Server and security expert for
my team. As time passed, I became a senior administrator and frequently
traveled to Bogotá, Colombia in support of US Embassy operations there with a
total of around 14 trips in a two and a half year time span.
In 2007, I was offered a position with BAE Systems to design a network for the
US Navy and the US Army. The timing was right as I felt I wanted to grow in my
career so I left General Dynamics and became a Senior Systems Engineer with
BAE Systems and designed and stood up the Intern-American Naval
Telecommunications Network (IANTN) at USSOUTHCOM. After that project, I
deployed to South Korea to assist in designing Aruba wireless integration with
the USAF’s OSAN Air Base. One back stateside, more travel took me to the
northeast where I reconfigured the New Jersey State Police’s “video vessel”
which housed network equipment to take real-time imagery and FTP the images
to their Emergency Operations Center (EOC). At the conclusion of that project, I
was then tasked with designing two emergency response vehicles for the Port
Authority New York/New Jersey (PANYNJ) which incorporated wireless Cisco
equipment, Harris military radios, RAJANT wireless networking, fiber-optics, and
more. It was in June of 2009 that budgetary constraints resulted in my lay off.
In August 2009, I was hired by Revolution Technologies to be a network
engineering consultant for an FBI project. The project was a full-time deployable
project that took me all across the United States to upgrade the FBI’s network
utilizing Cisco equipment. However, after 6 months of being away from home, I
decided it was time to try to get closer with my family and subsequently took a
position back where my roots are: USSOUTHCOM.
When the earthquake in Haiti struck in February 2010, I was approached by
MISource to take a position back at USSOUTHCOM to support the disaster
relief. Knowing that it would place me back with my family, I gladly accepted. The
position was for video teleconference support for the combatant commander of
USSOUTHCOM, the Ambassador, and other elements in the ongoing effort of
rebuilding and supporting Haiti. Unfortunately, the position was temporary which
brought me back to the job search.
I was quickly picked up by Modis in August 2010 to work on yet another project at USSOUTHCOM. I was responsible for migrating program’s of record; entities that connected to USSOUTHCOMs network, yet were not part of the network itself; to the new HQ building. After that project ended, I was happily able to secure full-time employment with NJVC as the Southeast Regional Network Administrator providing support for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA).
EDUCATION
I have always tried to keep learning. Shortly after moving to Miami and joining
the General Dynamics team, I began my classes at Miami-Dade College and
obtained my Associate in Arts degree with a major in Information Systems.
After that, with my work schedule, I needed something flexible so I enrolled in
University of Phoenix at the Plantation, FL campus and attended evening
classes obtaining my Bachelors of Science degree in Information Technology in
2006. Most recently, the collegiate bug hit again and I graduated in May 2010
from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with my Master of
Science Degree in Management Information Systems.
CERTIFICATIONS
While I know degrees are not always enough, I do hold industry certified
certifications.
I possess certifications from CompTIA such as: Security+, Network+, and i-Net+. I also hold a certification ITIL V3 Foundations. Further, I have two Aruba Network’s certifications: Aruba Certified Mobility Professional and Aruba Certified Mobility Associate. Citrix is also included in my certification being a Citrix Certified Administrator.
