Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to travel throughout the world.  While in the Navy, I experienced cultures ranging from Spain to Kuwait.  As a contractor, I have had the pleasure to travel to Colombia, Korea, Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, as well as many of the states within our great country.

Montana

I can’t honestly say what city this was, but it was on the border of Canada and Montana.  I was performing network upgrades for the FBI and this building was on our route.  It is the border crossing.  While a silly picture, I am actually straddling the border of the US and Canada.

Newark, New Jersey

This was a memorable time.  I was responsible for creating a network for the New Jersey State Police that included PELCO cameras on board one of their patrol boats that would take photos and/or video and distribute them to an FTP server for analysts to view and see if there are any problems that could cause concern.

Additionally, while in New Jersey, I had an opportunity to work with the Port Authority New York/New Jersey developing and installing equipment in a “Emergency Command Vehicle”.  This SUV was outfitted with Cisco and RAJANT wireless, copper, fiber optic, Harris military radios and a VSAT system.  While I do not have any photos of the install/vehicles, the vehicles can be seen at PANYNJ’s EOC in New York!  6 months in the cold northeast can get to you!

Osan AB, South Korea

A trip to Asia; something I have never done before and a 17 hour flight from Atlanta to Incheon is brutal!  This was for a project for the US Air Force to integrate wireless networking throughout Osan Air Base.  I was out there primarily for site surveying and Aruba Networking expertise.  On my off time, I had a chance to make it into Seoul.  This trip was around a month.

Panama City, Panama

This trip was a round-robin type trip where I visited several Central American countries at this time.  The project was for a coalition network that allowed for partner nations to share information with the United States Navy.  It was a great time meeting the Panamanian Naval personnel.

Managua, Nicaragua

Another stop on my Central American tour led me to a Naval base in Managua, Nicaragua.  The hotel was gorgeous and the people were very hospitable.  It’s always exciting to experience new cultures.

Aqaba, Jordan

This was definitely an experience.  While deployed on my 99-00 Med cruise, a group of friends and I went to get some “real” food at Pizza Hut.  Not only was it different from the US, but, as you can see, there was a man with a camel outside!

Somewhere in the ocean, USS Shreveport(LPD-12)

This is a fun picture.  That is me way up there on the yard arm of the Shreveport fixing some antennas.  The hike up the mast was a good 50 feet or so and the yard arm itself was maybe 6-7 inches wide, hence the reason I am laying on it; I am not that adventurous!
