Southeast regional network administrator responsible for the entire southeast region (Washington, D.C. to Key West, FL) wide-area network for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).  Provide network security, maintenance, and tuning throughout the region.  Available for crisis and on-call support as the NGA mission requires.

Modis, Systems Integration Lead (Contract)                                8/ 2010 – 5/2011

MISource, Visual Information Specialist (Contract)                  2/2010 – 8/2010

Provided audio and visual information networking support for USSOUTHCOMs auditorium-style conference center during the Haiti and Chilean Earthquake crisis.  Troubleshot errors with connections to partnering commands and initiate corrective measures to optimize communications between USSOUTHCOM commander and support elements.

  • Ensured that customers experience 99% available during mission essential teleconferences throughout the world.
  • Coordinated special events which included the SOUTHCOM commanders briefings, US Ambassador briefings, and Chief of Staff engagements.
  • Received accolades from the Deputy Director of DIA for executing a flawless week-long event providing seamless integration of audio and visual network support.

Revolution Technologies, Sr. Network Engineer (Contract)    8/2009 – 2/2010

Miami, FL

Provided 100% traveling network engineering upgrade support for the FBI throughout the United States.  Installed Cisco IOS and configured Cisco routers and switches, as well as TACLANE encryption devices to ensure high availability and secure communications of the FBIs unclassified and classified network.  Coordinated with local carriers and FBI personnel to perform “hot-cuts” of circuits to execute upgrades.

  • Provided minimal downtime for FBI personnel during cutovers ensuring a high success rate on over 60 offices throughout the US.
  • Train and mentor junior and new personnel on networking requirements for the FBI as well as FBI technical personnel.
  • Maintain minimal execution times to be on site, ultimately saving costs on travel.

BAE Systems, Sr. Systems Engineer                                                    6/2007 – 6/2009

Designed and built the US Navy’s Inter-American Naval Telecommunication Network (IANTN) at USSOUTHCOM.  This network extends from Miami, FL to 15 South and Central American countries within the USSOUTHCOM Area of Focus.  Managed team members who traveled to multiple countries to install information systems equipment at the host nation’s military base.  As well, performed site survey services for Osan Air Base in Osan, South Korea for feasibility testing of Aruba Networks wireless networking infrastructure.

  • Designed the IANTN network to be scalable which is now implemented on US Navy ships throughout the world.
  • Developed System Installation Plans (SIPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Engineering Design Plans (EDPs), Systems Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Functional Test Plans.
  • Completed the IANTN project ahead of schedule and below budget.
  • Tasked to design and execute two (2) multi-functional Emergency Command Post vehicles for Port Authority New York/New Jersey integrating satellite communications, wireless networking, and tactical RF systems.

General Dynamics, Sr. Systems Administrator                             2/2002 – 6/2007

Responsible for the continuity of network traffic in a 60+ mixed Windows and Unix server environment with over 600 users and over 600 workstations within USSOUTHCOM.  Managed service tickets and prioritizing actions based on severity and impact at Tier2/3 levels for mitigation.  Deployed routinely to Bogota, Colombia to provide JWICS system support for US Embassy personnel.  Managed the Alternate Command Post (ACP) to ensure redundant information systems were backed up in the event of a catastrophe.  Trained junior personnel to become efficient at troubleshooting network/systems failures in accordance with corporate guidelines.

  • Received company award for process and operational improvements to the JWICS system.
  • Formally congratulated and presented with a Letter of Appreciation from ADM James Stavridas (SOUTHCOM commander) for providing operational support in Bogota, Colombia.
  • Provided 99% availability for customers utilizing the JWICS network.
  • Successfully migrated, with a team, users into a virtual environment allowing various systems to be accessed from a single terminal (Trusted Solaris), thereby raising productivity.

US Navy, IT Specialist Second Class (Surface Warfare)              7/1997 -9/2001

Norfolk, VA

Technical control supervisor for the USS Shreveport’s radio room.  Provided non-secure and secure UHF, VHF, HF, and SATCOM voice communications for Naval and Marine ship, land, and air forces.  Developed pre-deployment circuit plans, cutover planning, and cryptographic change planning.  Managed the sailors within the division and coordinated watch schedules and functions.

  • Awarded Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal for saving over $100,000 by refurbishing shipboard antennae during a shipyard maintenance period.
  • Deployed on two (2) 6-month cruises to the Persian Gulf maintaining high availability for strategic communications between battle commanders and war fighting elements.
  • Participated in the integration of automation between communications systems and information systems which streamlines communication management.
  • Awarded Sailor of the Year for Calendar Year 2000.
